EA just finished their EA play conference and it left me feeling lukewarm. While we saw some new announcements, such as EA Originals. A program similar to ID @ Xbox, EA will help developers who want to join the program pay for development, marketing and EA will publish the title. Developers will also keep 100% of the profits their game makes. Also shown was the thing we all expected – a story mode in Titanfall. It will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC, October 28 2016.
FIFA had some new announcements, most notably the introduction of a story mode. Some more changes to gameplay mechanics and the inclusion of managers on the pitch side.
We saw a new trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda and the announcement it is being developed in the Frostbite engine. We also seen some new characters and the promise of new information this fall. So it’s likely we won’t see the game launch this side of Christmas.
There was some Madden news with the announcement of the six people who will head into the finals of the annual Madden competition.
A new trailer for Battlefield 1 as well. There also after the show was a 60 player multiplayer match with some of the biggest YouTubers.
The final announcement tying in to the EA Originals program, was an indie game called “Fe”.
Overall a bit of a lacklustre conference. Perhaps the rest will be more interesting. Stay tuned, Bethesda is at 7:00pm PST & 3:00am UK time.
