A new leak has recently sprung from the ‘Surface Phone’ boat, well, possibly. But best take a good pinch of salt with some – if not all – of the following, including a render image of the supposed phone!
Rumors of a possible rebranding to the Windows Phone division and a launching of a new ‘Surface Phone’ from Microsoft (yes, matching up nicely with the ‘Surface’ brand of Tablets), have been circulating the great internet for months, with the debut Surface Phone device believed to be launching around April 2017 (a rebrand could be much needed for the struggling Windows Phone in trying to compete with the likes of Apples iPhones and the various phone brands running Android).
The aforementioned render image recently appeared over on Baidu, published by ‘nokibar’ – a name which has previously managed to accurately leak renders of the Lumia 650 – so there could be some legitimacy to the leak (but still have that salt on standby).
This Surface Phone launch in the future would perfectly compliment the recently leaked gaming news that Xbox One to Windows Phone streaming could be on the horizon. But only time will tell how this leak turns out. However, considering how there’s just under a year still until the supposed launch of the Surface Phone it seems a bit early for official marketing renders to already be available. One possibility is that the render image is authentic, if not necessarily representative of the final device, more akin to a prototype render/image.
