Lylirra, the Community Manager for the Overwatch Forum, has just released some important information for all you Overwatch fans!
As the title suggests the Overwatch Competitive Play which has long been awaited, especially in the Esports scene, is ready to rock n’ roll and PC players will see that go live today! When today, however, has not been specified. Players on consoles however have up to a weeks wait…
“First, we wanted to be upfront and let players know that we won’t be able to release our Competitive Play patch on all platforms at the same time. The patch will be going live on PC today, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can expect it sometime next week. We don’t have an exact date to share, but we can confirm that the patch is going through approvals right now on both platforms.”
They did say that in due course the patching will be simultaneous across platforms…we can only dream for now!
Along with competitive play, they are also introducing Seasons that will last 3 months with a ranking system. Once the 3 months is up then back you go to start the next seasons climb. Another down point is the fact that June should have been part of the Summer season and so the current season we will be put into, will in fact only be 2 months long, reverting to 3 months at the beginning of the Autumn.
There you go folks, a quick update and hopefully an useful one!
