The critically acclaimed mobile game, Pac-Man 256 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam digitally on June 21st of this year. Originally developed by Hipster Whale and 3 Sprockets, this mobile gem will cost gamers $4.99 / €4,99.
Pac-Man 256 is making a full transition to consoles, with the added benefit of completely new features. The upgrade will have access to social sharing options and 10 themes to alter the usual arcade landscapes. Taking advantage of the larger screens, a local co-op multiplayer mode will support up to four players so friends can comfortably thwart ghosts, no matter how inky or blinky they are.
I know that I had a surprisingly enjoyable time with the free app, I wonder if it will get any love in the console space. With so many smaller games flooding the scene, is there room for this mobile port, even if it is an updated classic? We’ll have to find out this summer.
