Over on the /RedDeadRedemption subreddit there appears to be an interesting new leak showing the possible existence of the much-hoped for remaster of, or sequel to (we’re not bothered, we’ll take either), Red Dead Redemption.
An image of what appears to be a development render showing Thieves’ Landing in Red Dead Redemption has surfaced. Now, that doesn’t sound overly exciting in of itself – especially given that the source of the leak isn’t a credited leak source – so take this all with a pinch of salt! However, the image was apparently sourced from an ex-Rockstar employee’s webpage, and has some more points of interest to it!
One Reddit user ‘KDotMatrix’ commented on the page with an interesting theory regarding the image.
“Note the chromatic aberration on the poles and other objects in the image, a small point of contention in GTA 5. Chromatic aberration has become increasingly prevalent in modern triple-A games as of late. This was also present on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Chromatic aberration wasn’t present in [Red Dead Redemption], as it was running on an older version of the RAGE engine. Therefore, this most likely isn’t concept art from that time period.”
(For reference here’s a screenshot that shows the effect of Chromatic aberration in the PC version of GTA 5).
Thankfully E3 2016 is just around the corner, June 14-16th, and with publisher Take-two confirming to have “a big presence” at the show (though failing to mention dev teams Rockstar North nor Rockstar San Diego by name), some news as to the long-persisting rumour of either a Red Dead Redemption remaster or sequel will hopefully be announced!
