Cloud Imperium Games will be making a jump into more detailed content coverage beginning with Season 3 episode one of “Around the Verse.” VP of Marketing, Sandy Gardner and CO and project director, Chris Roberts, explain that this season of their roughly 20 minute show will feature more in depth content now that Squadron 42 and Star Citizen are edging closer to release.
As Chris explains, this season’s show will highlight “development in progress, from the screens and mouths of the dev’s themselves.” “Around the Verse” will have a weekly rotating tour, one of each studio from Frankfurt Germany, Austin Texas, Wilmslow England, and will begin with the studio in Santa Monica, California. Each new episode will highlight upcoming features and content which include ships, environments, characters, visual effects, and props.
Chris goes on to give us a hint at the scale of the project thus far, as between Star Citizen and Squadron 42, there are currently over 1255 pages of dialogue. ” … about Three times as much as Wing Commander 4.”
In addition, alpha patch 2.5 is discussed, which will include a new ship: the Reliant (pictured directly below). This ship looks very much like a Northrop B-2 Spirit- a.k.a., the “Stealth Bomber”- in landing mode, and Star Wars’ B-Wing when fully transformed for flight.
I was intrigued by a segment that shed some light on the soon to be released Grim Hex locale. It promises to be a haven for Star Citizen‘s counterculture, inspired as it is by the film Blade Runner as well as current street wear trends, modern cyberpunk and fictional bands. Grim Hex will include, among other things, shops where you can purchase clothing that represents the native culture. It’s further explained that locales such as this will be the “starting point” of the diversity that can be found throughout SC’s universe, suggesting that if you see someone wearing an outfit from a particular locale, you’ll instantly recognize where that character hails from.
And as a nod to their more dedicated players, each episode (airing Thursdays at 3PM PST) features an MVP. These MVP’s are recognized for their significant or unique contributions to the community. In addition, be sure to check out “Reverse the Verse” the following day, at 11am PST on Twitch. This live interaction with the community involves a question and answer session with developers and various other vital members of Cloud Imperium Games.
